Join UNR's summer camp 2026!
We invite you to UNR's summer camp 2026! The camp will be held at Utøya, Norway from Tuesday 30.6 to Friday 3.7.2026.
If you fit the following criteria you can apply for a spot at the camp:
1. You are between 16-30 years old at the time of the camp
2. You are a member of one of UNR:s member- or observer organizations
3. You are interested in politics and/or social issues and wish to contribute to the camp
We also welcome Ukrainian youth representatives living in Europe. These participants do not need to be members of UNR:s member- or observer organizations, and do not need to pay the participation fee.
The application for the summer camp is open until 3.5!
The application is currently closed, but email us if you wish to be added to the waitlist.
Program
During the camp we arrange workshops aimed at finding the Nordic youth’s approach to current and future challenges. This year participants will get the chance to take part in two or more workshops, before choosing what theme they wish to focus on. Based on the workshops participants will write political resolutions that are presented to a representative from the Nordic council. We also arrange other activities like debate competitions, culture night, sports and friendly competitions.
Practicalities
The camp will start in the afternoon on Tuesday 30.6 and end on Friday 3.7. Utøya is located about an hour's drive from Gardermoen Airport and about half an hour from Oslo central station (Oslo S). The island is not accessible by public transport, so UNR will arrange shuttle buses to pick you up from, and drop you off at, Oslo airport. Drop off may also be available to Oslo S. The exact time will be determined later based on flight and train schedules from the different countries, and will be sent out to the confirmed participants.
The island of Utøya is very small and consists only of the camp grounds. During the camp it is not possible to leave the island. Participants will be staying in shared rooms of 3-6 people.
The participation fee is 75 euro per person. The fee can be paid by the participant themselves, or by an organization, but must be paid before the start of the camp. The payment will be completed through Zettle once your spot at the camp has been confirmed. The fee includes all meals on Utøya, transportation to and from the island and accommodation, linen and towels. Ukrainian participants do not need to pay the participation fee.
All participants book and pay for their travels to Oslo, but are granted a travel reimbursement from UNR as follows:
Travel costs from Denmark 220€, Finland 250€, Faroe Islands 500€, Greenland 1000€, Iceland 600€, Norway 200€, Sweden 220€, Åland Islands 300€, Ukrainian participants 300€
Travel reimbursement is only paid in exchange for documented travel costs after the camp. Keep all receipts connected to your trip. The limits have been set based on flight costs in march 2026. As prices fluctuate a lot, we cannot guarantee that the limit will cover all travel costs. However, we encourage participants to book their flights sooner rather than later, and hope that the travel reimbursement enables participants from smaller organizations to take part as well. More information on the reimbursement will be sent out to the participants.
The languages of the camp are both English and Scandinavian and the language will be adjusted according to the needs and wishes of the participants. Knowledge in Scandinavian is not required!
Participants should be between the ages 16 and 30. Participants who have not turned 18 by the time of the camp should have their guardian sign a responsibility form and return it to UNR. The form will be sent to anyone that it applies to when your spot at the camp is confirmed.
The camp can take a maximum of 50 participants and the minimum for arranging the camp is 30 participants. In case there are more registered participants than spots available, UNR keeps the right to choose the participants to create a politically diverse pool of participants. After the registration has closed the working group will meet to make a decision, and inform the participants who receive a spot at the camp as soon as possible. After you have accepted your spot at the camp, and/or paid the registration fee, your registration is binding.
NB! While we have ensured that Utøya has made great efforts to provide visitors with tools to process the history of the island, we recognize that it might still upset participants. We encourage interested participants to familiarize themselves with the history of the island beforehand.
